About Tai Kee Wonton

Located at 2092 Concourse Dr Ste 1, San Jose, CA 95131, Tai Kee Wonton operates as a taiwanese restaurant serving San Jose in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in San Jose; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 10:30 amโ€“2 pm. It is closed on Monday. San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Jose follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Get the wonton soup. 5/5. Large wontons. Popcorn chicken 5/5. The other item was just ok.

1. The restaurant felt quite dark and looked outdated. They have many rules for customers. Funny ! 2. The prices were higher than expected for the overall quality and experience. 3. The fried pork chop over rice was very disappointing. It had an unpleasant smell, and the oil tasted old, as if it had been reused too many times. The pork chop was extremely thin and also dry. We only took two bites before deciding not to continue. I informed the staff about the issue, and they were willing to replace the dish, which I appreciated.

I saw a foodie rave about this restaurant, and a wonton restaurant is rare in the area, so it's been on my list to visit. We got the Taiwanese wonton soup (large), the spicy chili oil dry wonton, the five spice fried tofu (mild), and a fish filet rice plate. The wonton soup is so good. It's also very pretty. They have green onion and the smallest celery. I love chili oil wontons so I had to order the spicy chili oil dry wonton. It's not the most aesthetic dish, but it is good. The sauce is unassuming but is quite spicy. I had to take breaks between eating them. I also liked the five spice fried tofu. I got mild which was not spicy at all. The fish filet rice plate came with lots of sides, but the filet was just okay. We took it home so it's not in its optimal crispy state. Overall I felt I didn't eat much but felt satiated. We had plenty of leftovers that we ate the next day for another meal. And both times I felt sooo full. It is very filling!

The wonton soup is beyond amazing! Truly the star of the restaurant. I regret getting a combo plate that included a small wonton soup. This is by far the best wonton soup I have ever had. The popcorn chicken, pork belly, and rice are all just fine. Not nearly to the caliber on their wonton soup. The five tofu was my second favorite dish we ordered. Would recc just doing wonton soup and tofu.

The atmosphere here is so traditional. I called the popcorn chicken and it was way too good - juicy and flavorful. Beef noodles portion is big with full of vegetables and meats but the soup is kinda normal to me. Highly recommend to try popcorn chicken here. Yummy!! Ask them for the sweet and spicy sauce, that sauce is a really good compatible with both of my dishes.
